Road Trip!

Yesterday afternoon, my friend Doris and I took a trip to the Berkshires for the weekend. Although only 90 minutes from home, it somehow seems much farther. I never knew how much of a tourist attraction the Great Barrington/Stockbridge MA area was. With all of it's artsy and new age boutiques, it's a bit like Sedona, AZ (just no majestic red rock structures, alas...).

We started off this gorgeous Saturday morning by taking a trip to Stockbridge, past home of Norman Rockwell. The picture shown above is of the Yankee Candle store. We visited country stores, the Red Lion Inn, and the Divine Mercy Shrine of the Marians (pictured below).

We then headed back to Great Barrington to check out all of the fabulous shops there. As we headed back to town, I gazed over to a side street and saw the sign, "Off the Beaded Path" beading and scrapbooking. We burned quite a bit of rubber doing our 360 back there, LOL! Turns out the store had liquidated all of its scrapbooking supplies, but boy did they have GORGEOUS fibers! After spending $57, I am the proud owner of 80 yards of fiber lusciousness!!! And I have NO regrets, because these beauties are hard to come by. See for yourself below!

Of course not EVERY experience was the best...had the worst Indian food ever! Makes us REALLY appreciate our local Indian restaurant! :)

One of the more interesting sights we saw were a series of recycling trash cans on the sidewalks of Great Barrington. Our favorite design was:

Doris and I are looking forward to see what other adventures await us tomorrow!

wow! at first i thought that recycling bin was tiny, and then realised that was a car behind it!

those fibres are totally justified. they make me want to learn to knit (crochet just doesnt seem to cut it with pretty fibres.)

cant wait to see more photos!
