Well, after 8 weeks of incredible competition of "Scrap That Tune" over at Scrappy Giraffe Kits, I took 3rd place! I was really happy, as the competition was really fierce!!! I learned so much participating in that great contest...the challenges were incredible! I made some really good friends, too!
Here are my Week 7 and Week 8 projects:
Week 7: Song: Poprocks and Coke
Mission: Alter a clipboard and use the title
Requirements: Cardstock and rubons (ampersand and circle) only
Bonus: Distressing (used a file to get to the white core of cardstock)
Features: Drew the Coke bottle freehanded, drew and cut out title letters by hand.
Also used paint, pen, marker, colored pencil, and ink. Inked and painted edges, doodled. Made faux ribbons out of cardstock.
Week 8: Song: Wind Beneath My Wings
Mission: Entitle layout using line of lyrics that is not the title
Scrappy Mission: letter stickers, hand stitching, hidden journaling, eyelets.
Bonus: Stamping and aluminum foil
Other: Paint, brads, chipboard, gems, buttons, ribbon
Other techniques: Heat embossing, doodling, hand journaling, and painting. The aluminum foil wings were made by stamping wings, using Versamark, embossing with clear embossing powder, rubbing with Perfect Pearls, and outlining with pen. Image was then cut out with scissors.
TFL!!!

Week 4 of Scrap That Tune
My Week 4 project for "Scrap That Tune" over at Scrappy Giraffe Kits was super fun to make.
Here's what I did:
I chose to use "The Joker" by The Steve Miller Band this week. Very challenging, but I was able to make it work for me.
Also used patterned paper, bling, letter stickers, tag, buttons, brads, eyelets, transparencies, scrappers rings, glue dots, and magnets. Techniques include embossing, doodling, stitching, and inking. Flowers are handmade out of paper. Album is handmade out of chipboard sheets, as well.
TFL! :)

Weeks 1, 2, and 3 of Scrap That Tune contest at the Scrappy Giraffe
So I joined this REALLY fun contest at Scrappy Giraffe Kits. It's called "Scrap That Tune"! Each week we are given a choice of three different songs to use as a foundation to scrap a layout. Each song is assigned a different point total. We are also given choices to scrap as much or as little of the song as we see fit. Generally, the more you stick to the song theme, the higher the points. We also have design choices to make with different point levels. Each week there is a given bonus ingredient that gives us extra points if we use it on our layout. There is also a secret ingredient that will earn points as well. At the end of the week, the person who earns the most votes from their peers and from the design team will earn even more points. This is a very challenging and fun contest!!!
Here's what I did for Week 1:
I chose to use "Don't Blink" (5 pts); I used the sketch and scrapped a few lyrics (4 pts); I used two different mfg patterned papers (Prima and MME) and ribbon (see the flower) (4 pts); I used felt underneath my journaling strips (2 pts).
Total = 15 pts
Journaling is visible in close-up.
Large picture is my high school graduation photo, taken in 1986. Small photo is from 2007.
This is my layout from Week 2:
"You're Beautiful" - 5 pts
Song title and at least two lines of lyrics - 5 pts
Handcut title and buttons - 5 pts
Glitter - 2 pts
Total = 17 pts
Lyrics used: "I saw an angel, of that I'm sure. You're beautiful, it's true."
I made a hand-drawn and cut title, swirls, and flower greenery out of Sugar-Coated paper. The flowers are made out of felt and embroidered with button details. I used a Heidi Swapp wing stamp for the wings. I just used glue and glitter instead of ink. I made a fiber and glittery floss border and used some beads for added interest. Some star brads round out the details added. My journaling is around Samantha's photo. Supplies: Patterned paper: Creative Imaginations; Sugar-coated paper: Doodlebug; Wing stamp: Heidi Swapp; Glitter: DecoArt; Embroidery floss: DMC; Pen: Signo Uniball; Other: felt, buttons, fiber, staples, glue dots, gold star brads
And, lastly, here is Week 3's layout:
Another Day in Paradise – 3 pts
Scrap at least 10 lines of lyrics (see around photo and title) – 5 pts
Patterned paper from stamp + memorabilia – 5 pts
Ink on flowers – 3 pts
Total = 16 pts
Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Corrugated cardboard; Metal mesh and letter stickers: Making Memories; Mica: Magic Scraps; Flowers: Prima; Stamp: Label Tulip; Brads: American Crafts; Snaps: Junkitz; Ink: Ranger Industries; Pens: Signo Uniball, Staedtler; Other: colored pencils, staples, and glue dots. Photo by www.flickr.com
Memorabilia: American Idol concert ticket. I thought provided a little irony, given the topic.
Journaling: When life gets me down, I only have to think about those that don’t have the comforts that I do…food, shelter, income, love.
I can't wait to see what amazing challenges are in store for me for the remaining five weeks!!!

Acrylic album fun!!! - I've been tagged!!!
I've always wanted to make an acrylic album, so this weekend I tried my hand at making two of them.
The first album is one that I made for myself to celebrate some great fall pics from this year.
The four 8" x 8" acrylic sheets only cost $4! Just go to your local Home Depot or Lowes and they will even cut the acrylic to the size you want.
I used flowers, gems, rubons, and stamps to decorate the pages. Stazon ink is a must because it is meant for non-porous surfaces.
The holes were cut using my Crop-a-dile. I used Karen Foster Scrapper's Rings to hold the pages together and decorated them with fibers and ribbon.
Here are some views:
This second album has a completely different look. It's fresh and funky and was made to celebrate my friend, Rhi's, birthday!
Happy Birthday, Rhi!!!
This time I used a Krylon paint pen to rub along the outer page edges. It worked really well, as it dried in no time! I used Hambly transparencies, as well.
The lovely Wendy Malichio . tagged me...so I'm about to pass along the lovin';
Here are the instructions for the seven others that I'm going to tag...the seven I choose to tag are:
Theresa Tyree
Debbie McCaffrey
Kelly Blair
Janette Zomer
Rhi Cooksey Quinton
Liz Ness
Michelle Stanzione
Instructions:
1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself (on your blog, we all want to know them).
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Okay now the seven random facts about ME....
let's see;
1. I wear socks to bed...don't know why...just have to!
2. I must have an orderly wallet, meaning I can't have money sticking out of things
unzipped or unbuckled!
3. I am a huge PROCRASTINATOR...just horrible!
4. I get nervous on trips...trying to get over this!!!
5. My favorite food is seafood...could eat it all of the time!!!
6. I hate beer and wine!!! Most alcohol, for that matter. My drink of choice is a
sombrero (milk and kaluha)
7. Like Wendy, I rush way too much and miss out on life's little pleasures way too
often...have to slow down. Trying really hard to be better at that!
